Dr. Davies Chirwa Honored by MIPAD in Global Top 100 List for Philanthropy and Social Impact

New York – In a moment of international recognition and pride for the Pacific Northwest, Dr. Davies Chirwa, a renowned media executive, producer, and humanitarian, has been named to the Most Influential People of African Descent (MIPAD) Class of 2025, under the Philanthropy and Social Impact category.

MIPAD, an initiative aligned with the United Nations International Decade for People of African Descent, annually honors 100 outstanding individuals globally who are under 40 (and select honorary recipients) for their remarkable contributions to humanity, advocacy, and leadership in four major fields. Dr. Chirwa’s inclusion on this prestigious list places him among global changemakers working to uplift communities and reshape the narrative for people of African descent around the world.

Dr. Chirwa, originally from Africa and now based in Washington State, is best known as the Founder and CEO of Channel A TV, a U.S.-accredited media platform that showcases African stories, talent, and accomplishments through its coverage of major global events such as the Grammys, Oscars, BET Awards, MTV Awards, and the NFL Super Bowl. Under his leadership, Channel A TV has become a prominent voice for cultural diplomacy, creative innovation, and representation on an international level.

A multi-talented visionary, Dr. Chirwa also created the African Achievement Awards, an annual gala celebrating African excellence in leadership, education, fashion, sports, and entertainment. Now in its sixth year, the event draws influential figures, dignitaries, and community leaders from across the diaspora, strengthening unity and empowering youth through the celebration of heritage and excellence.

“This recognition by MIPAD is not only an honor for me personally, but a reflection of the hard work and collective spirit of the African diaspora,” said Dr. Chirwa. “Our stories, our culture, and our people deserve to be seen, heard, and celebrated on the world stage. I remain committed to using media, philanthropy, and education to build bridges that connect and elevate.”

Dr. Chirwa’s influence also extends to youth mentorship, community empowerment, and charitable initiatives aimed at underserved populations, particularly within African immigrant and refugee communities in the U.S. and abroad.

MIPAD’s mission is to recognize high-achieving individuals of African descent around the world and connect them with opportunities for global influence and collaboration. The initiative has received international acclaim, including coverage by CNN International, and plays a key role in spotlighting the leadership potential and cultural capital of the African diaspora.
