The last 24hrs has been buzzing with congratulatory messages to Wezi after she announced that she is the first Zambian artist to be nominated at the Grammy Awards. However it was later discovered that Tio Nason, Sampa The Great featured on the album called “Mother Nature” by legendary Aangeliquekidjo also Zambian music pioneer Ben Blazer was the sound engineer on Sampa‘s Vocals.
The album where Wezi features on is called “Pamoja” and has been nominated in the Category for “Best Reggae Album“. The album also features the likes of Vybz Kartel, Damian Marley, Stonebwoy among others. In the category, Etana is up against the likes of Spice, Soja, Sean Paul, Jesse Royal whose albums also got nominated.
However in a statement shared by Wezi on her social media platforms she said she was in such shock & disbelief and way too excited to check the facts about the “Pamoja” album’s Grammy nomination that she assumed every featured artist gets the nomination! Apparently that only applies for some categories and Reggae Album is not one of them.
The vocal goddess further extend my gratefulness to Etana for trusting her to work with her on the writing and recording of the “Not 4 Sale” song that now sits on a Grammy nominated album.
