“It Took Me 10 Years To Make It In The Game” – Yo Maps Tells His Story of how He Rose To Stardom

Zambian born Musician Elton Mulenga alias Yo Maps has told his story of how started music, his journey & how it took him 10 to have a breakthrough song.

When one looks at the 28 year old well established musician, Yo Maps, it is hard to believe that it was all struggles before he become to be know as one of Zambia’s biggest musician of our time.

His Musical journey began in 2008, ‘‘I discovered that i could sing in 2008, and made my first record in 2010” the singer said. Though his mother did not supported his new founded dream, Yo Maps‘ father however saw potential in him & began supporting him financially.

Along the way, he met Dj Kandeke in the studio he frequently visited, & just like that they clicked. Dj Kandeke became Oracle for Yo Maps & was his biggest fan. The singer Explained that at some point he wanted to give up music but the manager was always there to pick him up

His biggest breakthrough came in 2018 when he contacted Macky2 for a feature, he sent the rapper 2 songs & he picked Finally. Generous enough, Macky2 called him at his place & they worked on the project.

“It took me 2 months to fully master the song, & when it came out…. the song was everywhere. To a point people thought it was Macky2’s song“

Their first show the pair charged for K2000, much to their surprise, they were paid in full while they thought it was too much. & that is how their journey began.

Yo Maps feels that there is a lot to be learn as he is giving himself new challenges to his add to his CV, however: this is just the beginning of an era like no other in the Zambian Music Industry.
