My Song Featuring Yo Maps Costed K120,000 Boomplay Pays Less – Mr Crown
Mr Crown has cried foul and joined David Kazadi in the fight that is slowing taking with Boomplay and how much it pays.
Boomplay is one of the major streaming platforms in Africa and Zambian artists have flooded their songs on it. Boomplay as almost become a sort of instrument to measure how much the artist or a particular song is doing on the market.
Recently, David Kazadi has pioneered to bring it down in Zambia because it pays less. To join in the fight recently, is Southern province budding singer Mr Crown. Mr Crown uploaded is new it song “Don’t Go Away” on Boomplay which he featured Yo Maps.
However, Mr Crown stretched that despite the song costing him K120, 000 in total but Boomplay pays less than a K1,000 per Million stream. This has angered the artist and has joined the force to bring it down.
This is a set back to the would be, artists who might want to upload their songs on the platform. Other artists have suggested alternative platforms which may offer more payment than Boomplay.
