Yo Maps Chooses Sponsorship Over Nominations at the Kwacha Music Awards
Chart-topping Zambian star Yo Maps shocked fans and the industry after officially withdrawing from the 2025 Kwacha Music Awards, despite leading the nomination list with seven nods.
Instead of competing, Yo Maps and his team Olios Records announced their decision to focus on sponsorship and industry growth, marking a bold move that highlights his commitment to giving back to Zambian music.
Yo Maps had received nominations in top categories including Album of the Year โ My Hero, Best International Achievement, Most Conscious Song โ My Hero, Best Collaboration โ Peace of Mind ft. Roberto, Best Mainstream/Pop Song โ Mr and Mrs, Best Male Artist, and Song of the Year โ Mr and Mrs. However, Olios Records released a statement clarifying that their priority this year is not collecting accolades but contributing to the growth and sustainability of the music industry.
