Zambian music producer and hitmaker 76 Drums is bringing traditional sounds into the spotlight once again, this time joining forces with Blood Kid YVOK on a new collaboration titled “International Baby.” The love-inspired release draws from Zambia’s musical heritage, using a catchy Kalindula influence alongside contemporary sounds to create a distinctive blend.
The latest offering follows the attention surrounding “40 Ng’ombe,” 76 Drums’ collaboration with Chanda Na Kay and Shanga. While that record brought together different artists for a vibrant musical experience, “International Baby” explores romance, with the two acts delivering a record centred on the beautiful side of love.
One of the standout elements of the release is its connection to traditional Zambian music. The Kalindula-inspired sound gives the song a recognisable cultural flavour, while its modern arrangement makes it accessible to today’s listeners. It is another example of how traditional musical influences can find a place in contemporary Zambian music.
The official music video further strengthens the cultural direction of the release, embracing a visually rich aesthetic that complements the song’s sound. The visuals were directed by Cassim and 76, bringing the collaboration’s cultural identity to life on screen.
With “International Baby,” 76 Drums and Blood Kid YVOK deliver a love-inspired collaboration that celebrates Zambian musical influences while giving them a contemporary touch.
