The Zambian music industry is in mourning following the passing of legendary producer, songwriter, and creative pioneer Chali “Bravo” Mulalami, founder of Slingbeats Entertainment.
The sad news was confirmed in an official statement released by the Zambia Association of Musicians (ZAM). According to the statement, Chali Bravo passed away on the evening of March 3, 2026, at the Levy Mwanawasa Teaching Hospital after a short illness.
Widely regarded as one of the most influential producers in Zambia’s music history, Chali Bravo Mulalami is credited with helping shape and redefine the sound of modern Zambian music. Through his work at Slingbeats Entertainment, he introduced a fresh sonic identity that blended creativity, professionalism, and cultural pride.
Bravo’s impact is reflected in the long list of artists he worked with, producing and writing songs for some of Zambia’s biggest names, including CQ, Crystal Shaun, K’millian, Tommy D, Mampi, Ty2, Namanje, Hamooba, General Ozzy, Kanji, Roberto, Bob Muli, Alice Chuma, Choklet, Humphrey, Cray Jay, Masi, Khuzie, Mr Mainza, Kelvin Mwesa, and many others.
He was more than a producer — he was a visionary who believed in building stars and creating timeless music. His studio became a home for creativity, and his sound became the heartbeat of an era in Zambian music.
In its statement, ZAM described Bravo as a pioneer who did not merely produce songs, but created a new musical identity for the nation. His legacy now lives on through the countless hits he helped bring to life — melodies that continue to define moments, memories, and milestones for many Zambians.
The association extended its deepest condolences to his family, friends, and the entire creative community.
“Rest in Power, Bravo,” the statement read.
Further details regarding funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
The statement was issued by Edmond Mbanga Miti, Publicity Secretary and Spokesperson for the Zambia Association of Musicians.
