Slapdee Takes Leap of Faith From Hip Hop to Afro Rap

“I am not a Hip Hop artist – I am Afro Rap,” Slapdee has finally come out in the closet to talk about his stance with hip hop music.

In a candid interview on That Zed Podcast with Uncle Elson and K Plus, Slapdee explained the motivation behind this unexpected transition.

The artist cited a significant transformation in the music industry, particularly in the realm of genres. According to Slapdee, there has been a noticeable shift, prompting him to embrace the evolving landscape and redefine his musical journey.

One key factor influencing Slapdee’s decision is the global dominance of Afrobeats, a genre that has conquered charts and hearts worldwide.

When confronted with the prospect of building a genre native to Zambia, Slapdee dismissed the idea, stating that Zambia is still too young as a country to establish a global music genre.

This pragmatic perspective emphasizes Slapdee’s focus on participating in established, successful genres like Afrobeats, rather than attempting to create a new musical identity for Zambia at this stage.

Slapdee’s announcement marks a leap of faith, a departure from his longstanding identity as a hip hop artist, and a bold embrace of the vibrant and influential world of Afro Rap.

As he takes this new musical direction, Slapdee invites his fans and the industry at large to join him on this exciting journey of exploration and reinvention. Only time will tell how this transition unfolds and contributes to the ever-evolving tapestry of African music.
