Zambian-born, award-winning artist Sampa The Great has opened another chapter in her musical journey with the release of a new visualizer for “Simon Says,” while simultaneously announcing her upcoming album titled “NU ZAMROCK.”
The highly anticipated album is scheduled to arrive on 30 October 2026, signalling a new era for Sampa The Great as she continues exploring and reimagining the rich musical heritage of Zamrock through her own artistic lens.
The announcement comes alongside the visualizer for “Simon Says,” giving fans another glimpse into the creative direction behind the upcoming project. The visualizer was directed by Iggy London, adding a visual component to the latest offering.
“Simon Says” arrives as part of the build-up towards NU ZAMROCK, with Sampa The Great using the new era to continue connecting her contemporary sound with the musical traditions that have influenced generations of Zambian artists.
The album title itself, “NU ZAMROCK,” points towards a fresh interpretation of the genre, suggesting a meeting point between the foundations of classic Zamrock and a new generation’s approach to sound, storytelling and identity.
The project also follows Sampa’s recent creative focus on her Zambian roots and the passing down of musical heritage between generations. Her connection to Groovy George (George Kunda), one of the founding members of Zamrock and her blood uncle, has further highlighted the importance of legacy in this new chapter.
With NU ZAMROCK now officially set for 30 October, anticipation is building around what Sampa The Great has created and how she intends to push the Zamrock sound into a new era.
